Very fine original Imperial Rome Denarius of Emperor Caracalla coined in Rome between 210-212 A.D.
Obverse: Portrait of the Emperor Laureate facing right.
Reverse: Mars advancing left.
Imperator Caesar Marcus Aurelius Severus Antonius Augustus (known as ”Caracalla”) reigned 28 January 198 A.D. – 8 April 217 A.D. Born: 4 April 188 A.D. at Lugdunum – Died: 8 April 217 A.D. (aged 29) on the road between Edessa and Carrhae. Member of the Severan dynasty. His principal achievements were his colossal baths in Rome and his edict of 212, giving Roman citizenship to all free inhabitants of the empire.
