1928 C $ 5 Legal Tender STAR PMG 65 # 748

Being offered today is an EXTREMLY RARE HIGH GRADE “Top of The Population” (Top Pop) 1928 $ 20.00 Federal Reserve note. There is no other note graded this high!! The note is graded by PMG in 67 EPQ (Exceptional Paper Quality).

The note is from the Richmond Series which is designated by the “5” on the left side of the note and on all four corners. (see pics). The use of numbers was changed to lettering for the 1928 A Series. The number “5” represents the 5th letter in the alphabet, which is the letter “E”, which is the letter for the BEP District in Richmond. So, this note is the early version of the series and that is why it is more collectable.

The note also has the “Redeemable in Gold” statement on the upper left side of the note!

“REDEEMABLE IN GOLD ON DEMAND AT THE UNITED STATES TREASURY, OR IN GOLD OR LAWFUL MONEY AT ANY FEDERAL RESERVE BANK”.

This note also has a low serial number on it. The note starts out with 0. The note only has 7 digits. The complete serial number is: E 02256045 A. Lower serial numbered notes are much harder to find! Especially in the 1928 $20.00 series.
