The bottom vent is used to supply oxygen to the fire from below, generating a stream of hot gas above the stove to reduce smoke without using batteries and fans in the fireplace. Stainless steel is also very durable, unexpectedly light, and will not collapse under the pressure of ultra-high temperature flame.
A removable ash basin under the bottom plate collects all fine ash in one place. To clean, simply lift the bottom plate, take out the ash tray and clean its contents.
