Babe Ruth 1949 Memorial Pin
Product Description
Babe Ruth is considered the greatest baseball player of all time, and probably one of the most recognized athletes in all of sports. Ruth (1895-1948) was a powerful slugger for the New York Yankees who became the first player to hit 60 home runs, a record that stood until Roger Maris broke it in 1961.
The Bambino finished his career with seven World Series championships and 714 home runs, and he was among the first group of players inducted into baseball’s Hall of Fame. This is a fully original pin that was sold at Yankee Stadium after Ruth’s death on Aug. 16, 1948. The 1.75” pin comes attached with the original red white and blue ribbon.
Vintage baseball pins like this have become hard to find and highly collectible. The pin has its pin-back intact and is in very good condition, though there is some minor wear consistent with an item of this age.
