1986 New York Mets Team Signed Baseball

Established in 1962, the Mets have won two World Series titles in franchise history. Championships in New York generally belong to another team in New York City, which makes each post season run for the Amazin’s that much sweeter. The 1986 Mets put up one of the most dominant seasons in MLB history in 1986, winning 108 of 162 games. Led by a group of young players, Doc Gooden’s dominant pitching, and core veteran players like Keith Hernandez and Gary Carter, manager Davey Johnson destined his team for a World Series title during spring training. His players certainly lived up to his expectations.

The Mets faced the Boston Red Sox in the World Series for one of the most memorable Fall Classics ever. Trailing in the series 3 games to 2, the Mets looked as if they were going to lose the series at Shae Stadium until a costly error by Red Sox first baseman. Bill Buckner gave the Mets life to force a Game 7. The rest, as they say, is history.
