Product Description
Each Four Tube DP-66 Geiger Counter Nixie Clock is made from an original Polish military Geiger Counter dating from 1968 to 1974. Made from Bakelite, these counters have been professionally dismantled and cleaned up, before being upcycled into 4 tube Nixie Clocks All the original looks and features of the counter have been kept to keep them totally authentic, with the addition of making the dial illuminate.
Nixie tubes were invented in 1955, and were a means for early electronic devices to display numbers. They consist of a clear glass tube with the numbers from 0 – 9 stacked behind each other. The tube is filled with neon gas and then sealed. Each digit has its own connection, so when a small electrical current is applied, the neon gas around the digit is ionized and creates a distinctive orange glow. There is no heat produced, so the tubes can easily last up to 20 years.

Can you get replacement tubes?Yes, but only from the original manufacturer.
Does the counter actually work?No, all the counters were supplied to us in non working condition. We just repurposed the casings, so any of the original electronics were removed.
