Product Description

The Classic-Six is a limited edition, feature packed clock that uses the lovely ZM1022 front facing Nixie Tubes. Sheet aluminum and birch ply have been sandwiched together to create a substantial and stylish Nixie clock with a classic look. Each one is hand assemble in the UK and individually lasered with a unique serial number. The Classic-Six also comes with a little 3D printed stand, although it can just as easily sit on your desk or shelf if preferred.

Nixie tubes were invented in 1955, and were a means for early electronic devices to display numbers. They consist of a clear glass tube with the numbers from 0 – 9 stacked behind each other. The tube is filled with neon gas and then sealed. Each digit has its own connection, so when a small electrical current is applied, the neon gas around the digit is ionized and creates a distinctive orange glow. There is no heat produced, so the tubes can easily last up to 20 years.
