Product Description

An incredibly wicked large iron “sail cutting” arrowhead dating from the Viking era, c. 9th-12th century AD. A combat weapon, which would have been affixed to the end of a long arrow and shot at an enemy ship, intending to slice through sails and rigging. Clearly it would have done massive damage to an enemy solder as well. Made of iron with widely-flared, flat head and long, pointed tang which would have fit into the arrow’s hollowed-out shaft. Intact and nicely preserved.
