Product Description
Pre-Columbian. Chancay, ancient Peru, c. 800-1200 AD. A wonderful Chancay pottery Kero, with bulbous body, wide neck and flared spout. Two small loop handles flank the sides. The body is decorated with numerous black painted stripes, bands, and geometric designs over a creme ground. Minor old chips to rim, otherwise intact with light mineral deposits and wear consistent with age. Height: 4.75". Old collection or museum number on base. Provenance: ex Estate of David Sheridan, Branchburg, New Jersey, acquired in the 1950's; thence by descent to the family; ex Harvey Sarner collection, purchased from the family in the early 2000's.
