A wonderfully-preserved Middle Eastern Islamic prayer book dating from the 19th Century or prior. Every one of the pages is hand written and illustrated in black ink, some of the text with red accents. The book measures 6 1/4 x 4 1/4 inches, and is 1/2 inch thick at the binding (the cover is slightly warped outward at the edge). The pages are fragile, some with torn edges, otherwise intact. From the collection of Dr Joseph Touma, Virginia; purchased at Christie's, October 14th, 1994 auction, lot 336.
